Am not joking

Look here

Mumbaikars are always crazy.

· Rohit is a better captain than Kohli

· Condoms are more important than a guard against the life-threatening virus.

Did you notice? Bangaloreans have special problems. “Ee sala cupu namade”

National Family Health Survey (NFHS) says “unwanted pregnancy” due to the lockdown would be the next big problem for the government but building Ram temple is a high priority.

Things are not normal

While a dual Oscar winner, 6 time National Film Award winner, 15-time Film Fare award winner AR Rahman is observed to be silent, many TikTok celebrities are overwhelming the world with their own version of “The Corona Anthem”.

Australian sensation David Warner dancing for Butta Bomma and Sheela ki Jawani. Something seriously wrong.

Dalgona coffee was ruling the roost in many social media, has emerged into a new form of Affiliate marketing.

Money heist!!! No No!! Am not talking about that.

We all are in an unprecedented situation due to the global spread of Coronavirus

What all do we observe?

· BigBoss tasks by Prime minister

· Bulk purchase of veggies/fruits

· Excessive binge watching

· Raining instagram live chats

· Suicide due to unavailability of liquor

· Consumption of more food than normal

· Sudden fitness enthusiasts.

And many more sad things(lets not get there)

While most of the above can be interlinked, some are results of others, some are worse, some are good at this point.

What data says?

It clearly shows that we have increased consumption of food.

Our moms get excited when the family gathers together and churn out spicy special dishes.

During normal days, we had regular routine both for weekdays and weekends. The most important part of it is we socialize physically. Socializing has been a major part of our lives for the past 2 decades. Especially after the dot com boom the social media time, phubbing has increased. You may think this is the need of the hour. But, it has adverse effects.

Now we are forced to be indoor. Some people with their loved ones and some with the one they don’t want to, which means no scope of physical socializing with our friends/colleagues.

So? What would be our next stop? Binge-watching!!!

According to Emily Moyer-Gusé, Ph.D., assistant professor of communication at Ohio State University in Columbus, in an interview with Huffington Post, if you stay in too often to binge watch TV shows, games, or movies or spend more time in social media, and they come to an end, it can trigger depression due to the perceived loss of reality. Deciphering between fiction and personal reality is important, and alienating yourself to tune into media too often can interfere with this brain’s mechanism.

This leads to depression, stress and anxiety building up inside us without our knowledge.

We have data proof for that as well…

In a fast-paced life, people tend to feel isolated and that’s when they find solace in nothing but food

If you or someone you know is experiencing any of the following symptoms, it could be emotional eating:

  • You find that obsessive thoughts of food prevent you from doing other things
  • You are eating an unusually large amount of food in a short period of time and feel out of control when doing so

What is Emotional Eating?

“Emotional eating” is not a clinical term, but a term we use to describe the phenomenon of eating in response to an emotional state, rather than hunger. People naturally eat for a wide variety of reasons — emotional states among them — and this is perfectly normal.

There is nothing wrong with you if you find that food is one of the things you turn to during this stressful time. It’s normal to celebrate or soothe with food and this is one tool you can use to cope with emotions.

It may become a problem, however, if it’s your only coping mechanism. Those who do not eat enough for their energy requirements may find food comparatively more rewarding and contributing to increased emotional eating as well as binge eating.

What does science say?

Eating too many sugary foods or high-fat foods can be super addictive; according to a study published in the Nature Neuroscience, eating such foods can trigger the release of dopamine, a feel-good neurotransmitter in the brain. So, the more such foods you eat, brain starts getting addicted to them, making you crave for more. It becomes a cycle and a trap for your brain. When you are sad, you tend to start eating more of these junk foods and make yourself feel better.

You tend to use food to self-medicate, which may help improve or avoid negative or uncomfortable feelings. This makes you overeat and gain weight. Another reason to reach out to these foods is that they also increase the levels of serotonin, a brain chemical that elevates moods. This helps you feel calmer and relaxed.

Finishing it fast.

To All:

As the title says, Food is the new fuel during such unprecedented situations.

Eat as you like. Try new dishes to satisfy your carving. Yes, we don’t get those quality biriyanis and parottas. But we need to come over these situations.

Don’t care about putting on extra weight. We can work on it later. If possible try to move as much as possible.

And more importantly, reduce binge-watching. It makes our mental health worse.

For those couples / committed:

Govt. is out of money it seems. Keep banging. Try out all your fantasies. Let the government suffer later with this

For Singles:

Pornhub and chill ̶b̶r̶o̶ with your bro.
